To me, Karate is an educational system that teaches values such as excellence, leadership, discipline and ethics. The coach must be a role model of these values for his students. When the teaching of Karate is done properly, the discipline achieved through training is a positive factor that can cause significant changes in the student’s life. For this to happen the dojo must be free from any aspect of ego or vanity.
Karate is an endless non-compromising search for deep self-awareness and improving of character through endless training. Karate is a powerful educational tool that enables every student to identify and face his/her weaknesses and develop improved habits that will help to overcome those weaknesses.
The way a person behaves in every-day life is equalent to the way he practices karate and vice versa. Thus, to me karate is life itself.
Karate for me is a way to exposing the hidden inner powers within myself, a way of flow with minimum effort and a way of connecting to myself and to others.
Karate for me is a way of life. It teaches me to keep my center at any given moment. Traditional karate to me is a challenge. It keeps me curious, continuously learning, and constantly striving for perfection and improvement.
